The PG from Washington Heights, NY has informed coach McCaffery that he will transfer to UMBC next year. [Full Story] The primary factor in his decision was playing time,
“It’ll be my spot to lose starting with my sophomore year,” De La Rosa said.
In accordance with NCAA regulations, Chris will have to sit a year before he can play in games. Chris played extremely well coming off the bench for the Saints, especially down the stretch. At 5′9″ his best asset is surely his speed, which he will be able to utilize better in a league like the America East. We wish the best of luck to Chris and it was great having him as a part of the championship year.
Chris clearly didn’t get to play as much as he would have liked to, and we knew that would be an issue playing behind Ronald Moore. He’s a quick PG who proved that he can take advantage of defenders by driving to the hoop. [Avg: 9.5 min, 2.5pts] He’ll play better in the America East and I’m sure that factored largely into his decision as well. Chat about it in the Forums.
