The Siena Saints defeated the Iona Gaels by the final of 69-68 at the Times Union Center on Monday night. The Saints improve to 10-0 in MAAC play while Iona falls to 5-5.
Siena had a 55-43 lead in the second half until Iona fought back late to tie it at 61. Then came the tandum of Kenny and Eddie. Hasbrouck’s shot off an inbounds play gave the Saints a 63-61 lead. Kenny then earned a hard two points in the lane from about 7 feet out extending the lead to four. Then a 19 footer with Springer in his face gave Siena a 67-63. But again, Iona fought back and took a 68-67 lead with 14 seconds remaining. With 8 seconds remaining, Edwin came off a screen and hit a jumper with 4 seconds remaining.
Hasbrouck was awesome down the stretch, just awesome. Tough shots, big plays, you name it, he showed his senior leadership late tonight.
Awesome idea with the radio clip!

Two of the last four could have been losses, special teams find a way to win games like last night and the game at Marist. If this serves as another wake up call 18-0 is very doable.
