ALBANY (NY) — Day one of the Men’s MAAC Tournament is complete. #9 Canisius has won every one of their opening round games since moving to the new format in 2007 and they did not disappoint tonight. They will move on, after a 74-68 victory over Loyola, to face the Saints in Saturdays Men’s Quarterfinal at approximately 5pm. Siena has shot better than 50% effective FG% in both games against the Griffs, shooting 60% eFG% at home in an 18 point win and have turned the Griffs over at a rate just under one out of every four possessions.

#10 Marist and #7 Iona was a grind, to say the least, and ended in a 43-40 Marist upset. Both teams made only 8 Field Goals in the first half. The second half did not get better for Iona, they shot 7 of 23 in the second half and could not convert on two late chances to tie the game. Marist moves on to play Niagara at 7:30pm in the night session.
