ALBANY – In the less attended night session here’s what happened. Starting with the most recent. We will have semifinal game previews up tomorrow but until then we have what happened tonight.
#3 Rider 67, #6 St. Peter’s 58
St. Peter’s gave Rider all they could handle in this, the final MAAC Quarterfinal game, but Ryan Thompson proved to be too much to handle for the Peacocks.
Thompson turned in 30 points to lead all scorers and to take the Broncs into a Sunday night tilt with Niagara. Ryan Bacon led St. Peter’s with a double double, 18 points and 11 rebounds.
#2 Niagara 79, #10 Marist 50
Niagara took it to Marist early and often. While not impressing on the stat sheet, Niagara was able to build a 16 point lead at halftime by shooting 38% from the field. Niagara would shoot barely better in the 2nd half but they had a big enough lead. Rob Garrison led the Purple Eagles with 21 and they will move on to Saturday night’s semifinal game.
Ryan Schneider made a three with 1:55 to go in the game to finish his career with 1002 points. Playing for four coaches in his four years of eligibility, he racked up 525 points for the Red Foxes this season. Congratulations.
