It must have been Edwin Ubiles’ presence on the court that helped the starters produce their best games in an easy 83-54 victory for the Albany Cup on Saturday night.
Every other starter for the Saints turned in a great game with Ubiles on the floor. Clarence Jackson scored a season-high 25 points on 9 of 15 shooting, going 5 for 9 from three point range. Ronald Moore recorded a double double with 13 points and, a team-high, 11 assists. Alex Franklin scored 14 points and a team-high 9 rebounds. Ryan Rossiter scored 12 points, which was equal to his last two games combined.
Siena jumped out early on a 12-2 run to open the game. Moore’s 11 assists were more than Albany’s total assists in the game (9). Siena shot an effective 54.2% eFG% for the game and held Albany to their 2nd lowest eFG% of 39%. The worst Albany shot, prior to this game, was its season opener at Syracuse.
Another positive step for Siena? Moore went 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from behind the arc, matching his season total for three pointers in this game. Coming into this game, Moore was 3 for 19 (15.7%) from three point land. Moore has scored double digits in three out of the last four games.
Siena coasted to a 26 point halftime lead and by doing so was able to rest their starters at the mid-point of the second half.
Will Harris delivered 17 to lead the Great Danes on 7 of 13 shooting. Albany made only two more field goals (23) than turnovers (21). Albany has won only one road game this season.
