The Saints welcome the 7-1 Iona Gaels for a chance to get a statement win in MAAC play that could help their seeding when the MAAC Basketball Championships are set up in March.

Since falling to Iona at Madison Square Garden by a final of 95-59, the Saints rattled off three straight home wins before falling on the road at Manhattan and at Loyola in their last two games.

The Gaels’ Sean Armand hit 10 three pointers in their first meeting for a team that made 17 of 39 three point attempts. Armand had a game-high 32 points in Iona’s Garden victory over the Saints.

Siena’s O.D. Anosike has registered 14 straight double-doubles and the Saints will need him to work hard to compete against league-favorite Iona. In their last game against the Gaels, Evan Hymes was the only other double-digit scorer with 22 points. Hymes struggled on the road in the Saints last two losses and was held to 6 points in each game.

Only Manhattan with a buzzer-beater has been able to beat the Gaels in MAAC play this season. A Siena win over Iona would move the Saints from seventh to a tie for fifth place.
