Marist broke its 10-game losing streak against Siena Friday night with a 61-52 win over the Saints at the McCann Center.

Siena was able to cut the Red Foxes lead to one possession in the final two minutes but could not get a stop with just over a minute to go. Jay Bowie’s corner three pointer sealed the Marist lead with 1:06 left when the Saints needed a key stop.

Siena trailed by as many as 12 in the second half before going on a 14-0 run to take a 48-46 lead. The Saints shot just 20 for 43 (46.5%) from two point range but made just 2 of 15 three pointers for the game. Siena made just one three pointer during the second half out of ten tries.

The Saints were led by a double-double by O.D. Anosike with his team-high 15 points and game-high 13 rebounds. Evan Hymes made Siena’s two three pointers and scored 14 points as the only other Saint in double-digits. Anosike and Hymes struggled with turnovers all night, O.D. led the Saints with 6 and the freshman Hymes had 5 of Siena’s 14.

Chavaughn Lewis led Marist with 16 points on 6-15 shooting.

Siena has been held to 55 points or less six times this season, losing all six games.
