What we know so far is Siena will play at least two NCAA Tournament teams out of conference, and the schedule might include more.

Siena Head Coach Mitch Buonaguro went on the radio earlier today and said that the schedule was close to full for the 2012-13 season. Buonaguro said he thinks Siena will open the season with a home date against Vermont. Siena opened the 2010-11 season with Vermont at home, falling 80-76 at the Times Union Center to break their 38 consecutive home win streak.

The non-conference slate will include plenty of return games. Siena will return games at Navy, host UMass and play at Fordham. In addition to that they will keep the rivalry game with St. Bonaventure. Buonaguro said that Siena will play in an exempt tournament at the University of San Diego, of which the field has not yet been announced.

Buonaguro said that they have one remaining game to schedule and that they are looking into playing a “bigger game”, likely a road game against a power conference opponent.

The Saints will travel to play a return game at Maine out of the America East. Under the BracketBusters rules, Siena has the option of hosting Hofstra either this year or next year.

Siena will also host a BracketBuster game this season at the Times Union Center, the opponent for that game will be determined in late January or early February.
